The Law Society received £116.8m in 2014 from its members. The Law Society used this money not just to pay themselves but also to fund the Legal Ombudsman (LeO) and the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA). Every solicitor in England and Wales pay the Law Society a fee for a ‘Practising Certificate’ and some of this money is used to fund the supposedly ‘EXTERNAL’ regulatory bodies - the LeO and SRA.
